Observe the most recent baking creation! It was delightfully full of lemon I singlehandedly zested and juiced 8 lemons for the cake, filling, and frosting! It took about 5 hours, from start to finish but it was really fun! The results were, shall I say delicious? Don't let the name of the cake get in your way. Yes, curd rhymes with turd. I know everyone is thinking it. But, grow up people! (HA!) The cake is nowhere close to turd material and it deserves a chance!!!

We have had a large surplus of photos since the Christmas camera came around. Above is me pretending to decorate the cake. Below you will find . . . I don't know what you would call that look!

Here is the final slice. While I was at work one day John and Nikhil (our roommate) took a bunch of photos of the final slice and then promptly ate it.

Pictures of those who enjoyed the cake before . . .

. . . and after!

Aw man, I want some! I would just make it myself, but I doubt I'll have five free hours until I send R to kindergarten.....
You have a lot of patience to bake for that long! I'm very impressed!
Sadly I did not bake Amelia's birthday cake. I was super sick that day. Albertsons gives free birthday cakes for first birthdays. Lets be honest, I should get into the swing of baking. Your creations are quite the inspiration. Have you baked with your new apron? lets face it, I have saved a many outfits with my new apron. love it!
Andrea,
You need to put a poll up on your blog about how much we miss John. I would vote 1000%
Yummy yummy! I have a Better Homes and Gardens dessert cook book, and the desserts are totally awesome and fancy-shmancy (plus, there are a lot of pictures!). Maybe it's similar to your new cook book. Anyway, your cake looks wonderful!
We just finished off the last of the delicious frosting this weekend 2/22/08! Wow, some things just keep on giving. So bake away my good friend!
